From Ohrid Airport
Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport (OHD) is about 10 km from the city center. The most convenient way is to take an official taxi from the terminal to Ohrid Old Town (15-20 mins, approx. 10-15 EUR). From the harbor or Old Town, proceed on foot or by water taxi.

From Ohrid Old Town (e.g., Church of St. Sophia), walk west along the lakeside wooden boardwalk (direction Potpesh Beach), pass through picturesque waterfront paths and stone steps, and reach the cliff where the church is located in about 15-20 minutes.

Absolutely beautiful! This church is the soul of Ohrid, standing isolated on the cliff, backed by the sapphire-clear Lake Ohrid. The sunset moment is absolutely the best time — the church is breathtakingly beautiful in the golden sunlight.
Walked here along the lakeside boardwalk. When the church suddenly appeared before my eyes, that shock was indescribable. Red bricks, dome, lake, mountains — perfectly fused together. One of the most worthwhile attractions in the Balkans!
A treasure of medieval Byzantine architecture. The exterior walls with alternating red bricks and light stones are very distinctive. Although photography is not allowed inside, those 14th-century frescoes are truly precious. Strongly recommend visiting in the evening!
About 20 minutes walk from the Old Town; the lakeside boardwalk scenery along the way is picturesque. The church exterior area is free; entering the interior costs only about 2.5 EUR — excellent value for money. The hilltop viewpoint is an absolute photo hotspot!
